The Root Cause Assessment
A 60-minute session for women who want clarity on WHY they feel the way they do - and what to do next.
You know you don’t feel right. Let’s work out why
Perhaps you're exhausted despite getting enough sleep. Your digestion has changed. You're gaining weight despite eating well. You're struggling with brain fog, poor sleep, low mood or hormonal symptoms.
Maybe you've been told your blood tests are normal. That it's probably stress. Perimenopause. Or simply getting older.
Maybe you’ve tried all the things - the diets, the supplements, the latest health advice - and nothing seems to be working.
And you're left wondering why do I feel like this – and what is actually going to help me feel better?
The Root Cause Assessment is a one-off, in-depth health assessment designed to help answer those questions.
I'll review your health history, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle and existing blood results to identify what could be contributing to the way you feel and where it makes sense to focus first.
Let’s look beyond the symptoms
As a Nutritionist, I'm less interested in simply asking what symptoms you have.
I want to understand why you might be experiencing them.
Why are you exhausted despite sleeping well?
Why is your bloating getting worse?
Why are you struggling with your weight when you're eating well?
Why are you anxious or foggy?
Why are you waking at 3am every night?
And is it really just perimenopause – or is there more going on?
Because once we understand what might be driving the problem, we have a much better idea of what to do about it.
What is the Root Cause Assessment?
The Root Cause Assessment is a one-off, in-depth consultation for anyone who wants to better understand what could be contributing to their symptoms and what to do next.
Before we meet, I'll review your health history, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle and any existing blood results.
I'll then bring everything together in a 60-minute Zoom consultation, where we'll explore what may be going on, what deserves our attention and where it makes sense to start.
Think of it as taking a step back and looking at your health as a whole.
Rather than trying to tackle individual symptoms, this is about understanding what’s really driving them.
You can then get clarity on where to focus and what’s really going to make a difference.
What will we investigate?
Your assessment is based entirely on your symptoms, history and circumstances. Depending on what's relevant for you, I may explore:
Nutrient status: Including whether deficiencies or insufficiencies could be contributing to the way you feel.
Blood sugar & metabolic health: Particularly where energy, cravings, mood, sleep or weight are concerns.
Digestion & gut health: Looking for signs that digestion, gut function or nutrient absorption may need further attention.
Liver & biliary health: Whether liver or gallbladder function may be contributing to your symptoms.
Hormonal & thyroid health: Including the potential impact of perimenopause and other hormonal changes.
Stress & nervous system health: Considering the physiological impact of prolonged stress and inadequate recovery.
Sleep & circadian health: Because how and when you sleep can have wide-reaching effects on your health.
Nutrition & lifestyle: Looking at what you're actually eating and how you're living rather than applying generic health advice.
Existing blood results: Considering relevant markers alongside your symptoms and health history. Don't have recent blood tests? That's absolutely fine – they're not required to book.
The aim isn't to find one thing to blame. It's to identify the areas that appear most relevant to you.
How does it work?
01. Before we meet
You'll complete a comprehensive health questionnaire covering your symptoms, medical and health history, nutrition, medication and supplements, sleep, stress, movement and lifestyle habits. You'll also send me any recent blood or other relevant test results you'd like me to review. I'll analyse everything before our appointment, looking for patterns and identifying the areas I want to explore further with you.
02. Your 60-minute consultation
We'll then meet privately on Zoom. I'll talk you through what I've identified, explain what I think could be contributing to your symptoms and explore anything that needs further discussion. Most importantly, we'll establish your priorities – what deserves attention now, what can wait and whether anything warrants further investigation.
03. Your Root Cause Roadmap
Afterwards, you'll receive your personalised Root Cause Roadmap summarising:
The key patterns I’ve identified
The factors that could be contributing to your symptoms
The areas I believe should be prioritised
What may warrant further investigation
My recommended next steps
You'll leave with a much clearer understanding of your own health, what deserves your attention and where to go from here.
Is the Root Cause Assessment right for you?
This could be a great place to start if:
You have several symptoms and can't work out if – or how – they're connected
You've been told your blood tests are ‘normal’ but you still don't feel well
You suspect there's more going on than simply age, stress or (peri)menopause
You're doing lots of the ‘right’ things for your health but aren't seeing the results you expected
You've tried different diets, supplements or approaches but nothings really working
You're overwhelmed by all the health advice out there and want to know what's actually relevant for you
You're considering functional testing but want professional guidance before spending money
You’re not sure if you’re ready for a full nutrition programme but want an expert pair of eyes on your health and some clarity on what’s going on
This probably isn’t the right option if…
The Root Cause Assessment is an assessment and direction-setting consultation. It is not designed to provide a comprehensive nutrition programme in a single session.
It probably isn't the right option if:
You already know you want ongoing, personalised nutritional therapy
You have complex or long-standing health issues that are likely to require significant investigation and ongoing support
You want a detailed personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan
You want a comprehensive supplement protocol
You want regular accountability and coaching to help you implement changes
In these situations, my 12-week personalised nutrition programme may be more appropriate.
If you're unsure which option you need, please get in touch or book a discovery call and I can point you in the right direction

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The cost of the Root Cause Assessment is £249.
-
No. If you already have recent blood results, I'll review relevant markers as part of your assessment. If you don't, we'll discuss whether any further investigation would be useful.
-
No. Any additional testing is charged separately. I won't recommend testing unless I believe it could provide genuinely useful information.
-
The Root Cause Assessment is designed to help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and where to focus, rather than provide a comprehensive treatment plan.
I'll explain the areas I believe need attention and what I'd recommend as your next step, but a detailed personalised nutrition, lifestyle or supplement protocol isn't included.
If I believe you'd benefit from a more comprehensive approach, I'll explain what that could look like and the options available to you.
-
Absolutely.
The Root Cause Assessment is designed to give you clarity on what could be contributing to your symptoms and where I believe you should focus.
I may recommend further investigation or testing, suggest that you speak to your GP - or recommend more comprehensive nutritional therapy if I think you would genuinely benefit from a personalised plan and ongoing support to address the areas we've identified.
If you do decide to continue working with me on my 12-week programme, the £249 you've paid for your Root Cause Assessment will be deducted from the programme fee, so the work we've already done becomes the starting point for your programme.
There is of course no obligation to continue.
-
No. Nutritional therapy complements rather than replaces medical care. I don't diagnose medical conditions and will refer you back to your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional where necessary.
